Wellington North asking drivers to respect 'No Stopping Zones'

The Township of Wellington North is asking drivers to respect "No Stopping Zones" within the township.

The township has put out a statement that says drivers must respect the "No Stopping Zones" on all municipal streets, including John Street in Mount Forest.

The township’s current Parking Control By-law, which took effect on November 1, 2023, sets rules for where vehicles can park or stop on streets and in municipal parking lots across Wellington North.

In "No Stopping Zones" vehicles are not allowed to stop at all, even for a short time. "This means drivers may not pull over to drop off passengers, wait briefly, or idle their vehicle, unless it is necessary for safety or directed by a police officer. These areas are clearly marked with signs and are often in place to keep traffic moving, improve visibility, and protect pedestrians," according to the press release.

There are many "No Stopping Zones" in effect across Wellington North during weekday morning and afternoon peak times, especially near schools and busy areas. Anyone stopping in these zones may receive a ticket or face further enforcement action.
