Provincial police in Perth County reportedly thwarted two men attempting to sell a stolen forklift.
Police learned the machine, which had been reported stolen from Mississauga, was to be sold at a Listowel property on Tuesday.
Officers with the Huron-Perth community street crimes unit assisted Perth OPP in searching the property where they found the forklift valued at more than $51,000. Police also seized $11,450 in cash.
A 48-year-old North Perth man and a 60-year-old Cambridge man were arrested and charged with trafficking stolen property.
The 48-year-old also faces a charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
"This investigation highlights the excellent cooperation between our community street crimes unit and frontline members. By combining our specialized resources with our frontline response, we achieved outstanding results and improved community safety," said OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Styler Stewart. "This case reflects the great work being done daily by our members to keep Perth County safe."
The stolen forklift will be returned to its owner, police added.
