100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce recently made a large donation to the Tara Food Bank.
At the September meeting for 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce, the organization selected the Tara Area Food Bank to receive its record donation of $41,700.
The Tara Area Food Bank receives no government funding to operate, and it has more than 20 volunteers and seven board members working together to ensure individuals and families have access to food and hygiene items with dignity and without judgment.
Every Wednesday, food bank volunteers serve people ranging from infants to seniors in the region. Clients choose the food their families need rather than receive a predetermined box. The food bank also operates a clothing bank, provides Christmas support for families, and helps ensure students at Arran Tara Elementary School have access to pizza and milk.
Moving forward, 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce is calling for new members to join. The next meeting is on November 14, and interested members can come and learn more about how to join and make a positive local impact.
