More Opportunity For Golfers In Ontario

The President of the Great Lakes Tour believes men's professional golf is in a really good place right now.

The Great Lakes Tour was one of the partners in last weekend's Seaforth Country Classic.

Jim Kenesky says the opportunities for professional men has improved considerably from ten years ago when he was playing.

"The Great Lakes Tour was the only tour, we didn't have access to Quebec and we didn't have a good solid Mackenzie Tour and I think now what we're seeing is deeper fields, the talent level is through the roof and I think Canadian Professional Golf is in a really good spot moving forward."

One of the unique aspects of this year's Country Classic was the inclusion of women in the field and the fact that both the men's and women's champions took home the same pay cheque.

He says the Great Lakes Tour is predominantly men at this point but after what he saw this weekend they might considering doing something similar in the future.

Mitch Sutton won the men's division and Selena Costabile won the women's division.
