An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Ahead of its first playoffs as the rebranded Ontario Elite Hockey League, the senior league is restoring a trophy with 90 years of history.The league announced Wednesday it would be bringing back the OEHL Cup. The trophy was first awarded in 1935, to the Ontario Hockey Association’s Intermediate B champions.Aside from a halt in play during World War II, the trophy was awarded annually for the next 36 years, until a reorganization of Intermediate hockey lead to it being retired.Past champions of the Intermediate B Championship include the Durham Huskies and Seaforth.The Cup will now be awarded to the champions of the AA Playoffs.The regular season concludes this weekend with five games, and <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://oehlhockey.ca/2024/01/29/the-final-five-games/">only the top seeded Ripley Wolves are sure of their place in the standings</a>.
