Sarnia-Lambton MPP Announces 2017 'Wish List'

Sarnia Lambton MPP Bob Bailey has drawn up his "wish list" for 2017.

He'd like to see his private members bill that would ban any future use of asbestos in Ontario pass unanimously.

Bill 88 also requires the province to create a register that the province of Saskatchewan launched in 2015.

Bailey admits he's concerned about the Wynne Liberals Cap and Trade legislation.

"I'd like to see us take a real good look at what that's going to mean to the ratepayers," he says. "We already know gasoline prices will jump by four cents a litre and Union Gas customers will be paying up to $13.54 more per month. Most people think they are paying enough now and there are others who may be forced to choose between food and fuel."

Bailey does predict some positive announcements locally.

"We'll hear if BioAmber will build another facility here, and I've met with other people at my office about other announcements that they intend to open or build manufacturing facilities, so we'll just have to wait and see," says Bailey.
