Hundreds of people will gather in Clearwater Arena Park in Sarnia Friday evening for the 16th annual Relay for Life.
Canadian Cancer Society convenor Paula McKinlay says last year they raised $150,000, bringing the 15 year total to $3.5-million locally.
"There is no other event like Relay For Life," says McKinlay. "It celebrates survivors and caregivers and what they've gone through. And we all take time in our Luminary Lap to remember those we've lost."
McKinlay says there are over 100 items up for grabs at the silent auction and the public is welcome to come and bid on the items from 5pm until 9:30pm. The entire event wraps up at midnight.
Money from Relay For Life helps fund cancer research,the Peer to Peer support program, as well as assist local residents get to treatment through the Wheels of Hope.
