15th Place Finish For Local Students At Eco-Marathon

Northern Collegiate students are pleased with their finish at the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas in California over the weekend.

The event showcases the future of energy and some extremely efficient vehicles.

Grade 12 student driver Maria Peregoudov says they placed 15th against 37 teams in their division.

"We're already planning next years competition, even though it's going to be a different team, " says Peregoudov. "You see so many different kinds of technology that you may have never thought to do on your own vehicle. The great thing about that competition is that everyone is competing against each other to have the best mileage, however, most importantly what you're there for is everyone is still working together for the common goal of fuel efficiency."

Sarnia’s Northern Collegiate was the only Canadian high school at the event, which was held April 19 to 22 in Sonoma.
