Potholes and crumbling pavement have led to Plank Road in Sarnia being voted the worst road in southwestern Ontario.
The Canadian Automobile Association released the results of its annual Worst Roads Campaign on Thursday.
CAA spokesman Raymond Chan said it's the fifth year in a row that Plank Road has been included.
It was number one in the region in 2017 and number three last year.
"It may not be a well heavily travelled road, but it's certainly a road that people rely on each day," said Chan. "Clearly there are challenges with it, which is why it appears on the regional list each and every year. Later on this fall, we have a federal election campaign happening, so now is a great time to ask those local candidates in Sarnia about what some of their plans are for infrastructure funding."
Meanwhile, the city has applied for up to $5 million in federal government funding to fix the roadway from Indian Road South to Highway 40.
Design work is scheduled for next year, followed by two phases of construction in 2021 and 2022.
