Voluntary asymptomatic COVID testing starting in Sarnia schools March 14

Voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing is being offered over the coming weeks to students, staff, and bus drivers across Lambton-Kent's public, Catholic, and French school boards.

It's part of the education ministry's directive to conduct testing at all Ontario schools to limit the spread of the virus.

Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CKLASS) GM Kent Orr said you don't need to pre-register.

"You can arrive at the site and the vendor LifeLabs will be doing registrations, and getting consent forms for the children testing at the site at the time," said Orr. "We've posted on the website a suggested arrival time based on surname alphabetically just to space out and maintain some of those crowd numbers."

The first round of testing is being held at Great Lakes Secondary School on Sunday, March 14 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Those from Great Lakes Secondary School, Queen Elizabeth Public School, Hanna Memorial Public School, Holy Trinity Catholic School, London Bridge Child Care, and Little Friends Child Care have been invited to attend. Those at other child care centres across Sarnia-Lambton can also take part.

Further clinics will be held in the future, although dates and times have not been confirmed.
