Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 surge continued Monday with another 29 new cases being reported.
Lambton Public Health said since March 25, 2020 there's been a total of 2,409 confirmed infections.
Cases considered resolved increased by 25 to 2,188, putting the number of active infections at 175, up four.
There are 10 active institutional, school and workplace outbreaks, an increase of one over the last 24 hours.
The health unit has declared an outbreak at North Lambton Secondary School in Forest after three positive cases were reported. The Lambton Kent District School Board on Sunday announced that due to staffing shortages, the school would be temporarily closed for in-person learning. Students are learning remotely and will return to the classroom on Monday, March 22.
The public school board's COVID advisory web page, as of Monday, showed at least one student or staff case in 18 Lambton schools. North Lambton Secondary had a total of 13 positive cases, 12 involving students. Petrolia's LCCVI had nine infected students. The St. Clair Catholic District School Board was reporting cases in six Lambton schools.
Bluewater Health still has six positive patients in hospital, unchanged from Sunday.
The provincial government's online portal to book vaccine appointments launched at 8 a.m. Monday. Those 80-years-old and up can book their appointment at Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling 1-888-999-6488.
Lambton Public Health's local Call Centre is also open to help with the booking process at 519-383-8331, or online at www.getthevaccine.ca.
Local residents will be sent to one of three fixed clinics in Point Edward, Wyoming or Forest.
