Sarnia Transit fares are going back up to $3 from $1.50 as of June 1, with the reintroduction of transfers.
Riders are again being given the option to use transfers for unlimited travel for 90 minutes after the practice was scrapped due to the pandemic.
Acting Transit Manager Michelle Carter said they've installed automatic transfer printers to be more COVID-safe.
"By the push of a button, our driver can issue a transfer that passengers can now grab themselves and use to validate when they board other busses by a barcode," said Carter. "So, there's a reader on the bus where they will insert their transfer, no need to hand it to the drivers."
Carter said transfers are not required for riders boarding with a monthly, weekly, daily, or semester pass, and they're not transferable to other riders.
Brown coloured reduced rate tickets are still being honoured until December 31.
