Prospective homeowners, and those needing to do renovations, are being given a leg up by the County of Lambton.
The county has launched a pair of programs aimed at assisting those in need.
Project Coordinator MacKenzie Kada said the Lambton Renovates program provides one-time financial assistance for home repairs.
"Lambton Renovates is a 10 year forgivable loan for up to $20,000 to do renovations in the home that you're in," said Kada. "That includes things like roofs, windows, doors, foundations and furnaces. There is also a $5,000 grant component that can be accessed for accessibility purposes, so things like ramps and widening doorways."
The Homeownership Down-Payment program offers a 20 year forgivable loan for a 10 per cent down payment to be used towards the purchase of a new or resale home.
