Grand Bend teen starring in PAW Patrol film to meet with fans

A teenager from Grand Bend who voiced the role of Skye in PAW Patrol: The Movie will meet with fans in Forest on Saturday.

The movie is Lilly Bartlam's feature film debut, but she started doing the voice of the pink pup during season six of the television series in 2019.

"Skye is a super fun, fearless dog, and it's been so great voicing her in the movie," Bartlam told Blackburn News.

Bartlam, 15, is a Grade 10 student at Saint André Bessette Catholic Secondary School in London.

She had to re-audition for the movie role and was lucky enough to be cast.

"[The producers] were looking for a little bit more of a cinematic voice. They mentioned that it should sound like The Rock saying Skye's lines. So, I had to really make it exciting."

Bartlam said she's voicing season nine of the television series now.

"For the series I've been voicing it from home," said Bartlam. "But, for the movie, I was actually lucky enough to go into the studio and they ZOOMED the rest of the production. It was so great that I was able to go into the studio and I didn't have to worry about all of the technical stuff."

Bartlam said she's been acting professionally since she was six years old.

"Other than Skye, I've done lots of voice work. Some things that I've done are; Dot, The Most Magnificent Thing [a short film], Total DramaRama and Cyberchase."

She's also appeared in The Handmaid's Tale and an HBO Max series called Detention Adventure.

Bartlam said her friends think it's "super cool."

"I was able to take one of my friends to the screening of the movie and she had lots of fun. It was a very cool experience for both of us."

Bartlam will be at the Kineto Theatre at 1 p.m. Saturday to meet with children who have tickets to the 2 p.m. show.

"I'm so looking forward to it! Ever since I was little I've gone there to watch movies, so I'm so happy that I get to go there and meet some fans of PAW Patrol, which is so exciting."

Tickets can be purchased online at kineto.ca, but the seating is limited due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Bartlam isn't the only local actor with a role in the film.

Ron Pardo, who grew up in a small hamlet just outside of Blenheim, voices Mayor Humdinger and Cap’n Turbot.

The film has a star studded cast, including Kim Kardashian, Tyler Perry, Jimmy Kimmel and Dax Shepard.
