United Way still optimistic local campaign will near goal

With just a week to go, there's optimism that the Sarnia Lambton United Way will come close to its 2021 goal.

Executive Director Dave Brown said as of Wednesday they've raised nearly $1.6 million or 90 percent of their $1.75 million target.

"We've had a number of people who have donated a couple of times this year, who increased their donation from last year. And we've had a bunch of new donors so we're really happy about that."

Brown said a quarter of a million dollars has been raised through the mail-in campaign or online donations. If people still want to donate they can call the United Way office.

"People can log on to the United Way website and of course still stop by the office. If our office is closed you can slide your donation in the mail slot at the Kumon office two doors down."

The charitable organization helps fund 20 local agencies providing 40 programs and services to the community.
