Video helps identify break-in suspect

A 45-year-old Sarnia man is facing a few charges after he was allegedly caught on video surveillance during a break in.

Sarnia police said suspects allegedly broke into a gated and locked compound on Green Street, by cutting a hole in the fence on November 14 at around 10:20 p.m.

An unspecified number of power tools, valued at several thousand dollars, were reported stolen.

Since the compound is monitored by video surveillance, officers were able to identify one of the suspects.

Police said the accused was arrested the next day and charged with break and enter, theft over $5,000, and failing to comply with a release order. He has a court date scheduled for December 15.

The stolen property was recovered and returned to the owner.
