The Sarnia Sting have recorded at least a point in seven straight games following an 8-2 win over the visiting North Bay Battalion.
Sasha Pastujov led the way with two goals and two assists, five other Sarnia skaters had a multi-point game, and the Sting handed the Battalion their worst loss of the season Sunday afternoon.
After a quiet start, Sarnia's Luca Del Bel Belluz opened the scoring at 17:10 of the first period to give the home-side a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. The Woodbridge native has 25 points in 21 games since joining the Sting in early January.
At 6:45 of the second period, Nolan Burke scored his first of two power play goals on the day -- he leads the Sting with 40 goals this season. North Bay's Kyle Jackson got his team back in it with a power play goal at 11:54. Del Bel Belluz restored Sarnia's two-goal lead at 18:53, another power play marker, and the Sting led 3-1 after two periods.
Just over a minute into the third period, Sarnia's lethal power play struck again when Pastujov put home his 32nd goal of the year. Burke added his second power play goal at 4:32 and Pastujov did the same, at 8:23, to give the Sting 6-1 lead over the Battalion.
North Bay made it 6-2 at 12:05 -- their second goal with the man advantage. The Sting closed out the game with goals from Easton Wainwright and Cooper Way at 18:28 and 18:47 to secure the two points.
Sarnia's power play was 5 for 11 in the game, and Sting goaltender Ben Gaudreau turned away 33 shots for his 20th win of the season.
