Northern Lights shine bright in Sarnia-Lambton

The Northern Lights were shining bright above Sarnia-Lambton Thursday night.

The Weather Network said in a rare event, the Aurora Borealis stretched down into southwestern Ontario overnight and that geomagnetic activity reached G4 (severe) levels.

Meteorologist Scott Sutherland said the lights could be back Friday night but they likely won't be as bright.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Center said there is a chance of G1 (minor) storm levels overnight Friday.

The colourful light display is predominantly seen in high-latitude regions around the Arctic and Antarctic.
