Several local Catholic schools will be undergoing some improvements this year.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) identified a total of $8.2 million in capital upgrades as part of the School Condition Improvement (SCI) capital renewal program.
Some of the scheduled work includes universal washroom upgrades at St. Joseph, Corunna, gymnasium renovations at Ursuline College in Chatham, and rooftop unit replacement and structural steel reinforcement at St. John Fisher Catholic School in Forest.
The Ministry of Education provides additional School Renewal allocation (SRA) to assist with revitalizing and renewing aging building systems and components, including HVAC systems, roof replacements and maintenance.
Site improvements to the school yard at St. Philip Catholic School in Petrolia and at St. Michael Catholic School in Ridgetown are also planned.
The SCCDSB said all work is expected to be completed through the remainder of the current school year.
