Retweet sparks social media debate in Warwick Township

A retweet has turned up the heat for a local fire chief.

On Sunday, on Warwick Township Fire Chief Brad Goodhill's personal social media account, a post by American conservative activist and radio talk show host Charlie Kirk was retweeted.

The retweet could be labelled as transphobic, as it likened being "trans" to a having mental illness. It has since been deleted from Goodhill's account.

In a statement to Sarnia News Today, Warwick Township Chief Administraive Officer and Clerk Amanda Gubbels said the matter is being reviewed.

"As this is an administrative matter, the township will be completing an internal review, in line with our policies, into the post and take actions according to our policies," said Gubbels.

Goodhill's personal Twitter account also no longer lists the Fire Chief of Warwick Township in his profile.

Sarnia News Today reached out to him for comment, but has not yet heard back.
