London Pride 2023

Sunday was the finale of London's 11-day-long Pride festivities.

It was a beautiful day for revelers to line the streets and take in the vehicles, floats, and marchers.

The 27th annual London Pride Parade started at noon. It began on Queens Avenue and travelled down Colborne Street, and Central Avenue before ending on Wellington Street.

The parade came amid tension, as anti-LGBTQ2S+ acts have been on the rise across the region. Pride flags have been stolen and damaged in St. Thomas, and Norwich County. There was even a concerning incident at a high school in London. In May, a Norwich County councillor resigned as a controversial by-law concerning Pride flags on municipal properties was passed.

Despite the hate thrown its way, London's Pride community celebrated with joy and love.

Many causes were represented in the 2023 parade, including trans rights and the pro-choice movement.

London police and other emergency services were invited to walk in this year's parade. Unions, schools and school boards, businesses, and even the local Star Wars fans took part.

The parade was founded by Pride London, a not-for-profit organization that exists to promote diversity and equality through engaging, entertaining, and educating residents about the LGBT2S+ community.
