Easter in the Park returns to Canatara Park

The Easter Bunny will be in Sarnia this weekend for Easter In The Park.

Activities Saturday at Canatara Park include the Easter egg hunt, face painting, crafts and performances by Circus Jonathan.

It starts at 9 a.m. and runs until noon.

City of Sarnia Communications Manager Steve Henschel said the Easter egg hunt starts at 10 a.m.

"There's plastic covered eggs scattered throughout an area for children to run around and pick up and put in their basket and then at the end of it they can trade those eggs for a candy treat, it's peanut and gluten free this year," he said.

There will also be different sections for certain age groups for the hunt.

"Children under four and those with accessibility needs have their own section, children aged five to seven have their own and then children eight plus," he said.

It will be only one treat per child.

Henschel said this year there will be some slight changes but it is still the event people know and love.

"The big change that I know of is that the Easter Bunny he's not just popping over for a brief visit, he's going to be there throughout the event," he said.

Henschel also said this event is a great kickoff for spring.

"It's just fun for the whole family and it's a free outing that we like to provide our residents," he said.

Residents are being reminded to bring their own basket.

For the event a portion of Cathcart Boulevard will be closed starting at 6 a.m.

Parking will be available at Canatara Beach and around the large field at the park.
