No leaks reported in Sarnia train derailment

No injuries were reported following an early morning train derailment in Sarnia Thursday.

According to CN, a train pulling into the Sarnia yard just after 3 a.m. derailed a reported 14 railcars, three of which were tankers carrying liquified petroleum gas (LPG) on their side.

An alert from the Aamjiwnaang Notification System said no leaks had been reported.

The St. Andrew Street crossing was blocked to traffic for several hours while crews cleared the scene, but it has since re-opened.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue also responded.

"CN would like to thank local first responders who are on site and apologize for inconveniences to local commuters as a result of this incident," read an email from Senior Manager of Public Affairs Daniel Salvatore. "We will follow up with you as more information becomes available."

As of Thursday afternoon, Salvatore said the cause remains under investigation.
