A 25-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with driving impaired after nearly hitting a tent in a Sarnia encampment.
According to Sarnia police, the driver went over a curb and skidded within five feet from the tent in Rainbow Park which was occupied at the time.
The vehicle ended up getting stuck in a grassy area nearby.
When officers arrived, they found the driver holding an open liquor bottle as he exited the vehicle. There were reportedly several empty beer cans on the front seat.
The man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.
His license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for a week.
Police did not specify when the incident happened.
