Brigden saddles up for the RAM Stampede

Hundreds of cowboys and cowgirls are expected at the RAM Stampede this weekend in Brigden.

It's the second time the St. Clair Township community has hosted the blend of rodeo and family-friendly entertainment at the Brigden Fairgrounds.

The party kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday with live music from Scott Manery and the Barburners.

Spokesperson Ross Miller said gates open at 11 a.m. Saturday ahead of the main RAM rodeo event.

"We'll have about 200 cowboys and cowgirls coming into town and there's over $300,000 in prize money this summer in the RAM Rodeo so, amongst all the festivities, the cowboys and cowgirls are coming to play," said Miller. "They're very serious about it, it's a competition. We've got many of the standard events of rodeo, the ladies barrel racing, the bucking horses and of course the word's toughest sport, bull riding."

The kids rodeo will be held both Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Live music continues Saturday and Sunday with performances by The Cory James Mitchell Band, Stephanie and the Aikin Hearts, and the Blooze Hounds.

"When you come to the rodeo, it's a music festival along with the rodeo all of a sudden," said Miller.

Other vendors and food trucks will also be on site as well as a beer tent.

Tickets for the three day event are available online at ticketweb, or in person at the gate.

On-site camping is also available.
