Kettle and Stony Point residents told to boil water

A precautionary boil water alert has been issued in Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.

A joint notice was sent out to residents from the administration, health services and public works department on Wednesday.

"We want to inform you of a precautionary boil water alert due to a recent fire hydrant failure in our water system," the announcement read.

The First Nation is recommending residents boil all water used for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth for at least five minutes to ensure any potential contaminants are eliminated.

Residents are also being asked to conserve water by limiting non-essential water use.

The First Nation said it will keep residents updated and notify them when it is safe to resume normal water usage.
