Lambton OPP responded to Chiefs Road around 5:53 a.m. Saturday morning, after reports of a single-vehicle crash.
The 37-year-old driver was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance before being airlifted to Victoria Hospital in London.
OPP closed Chiefs Road while they investigated, and reopened the road after a few hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
The regional championship will be held from July 17 to July 19 and is open to spectators.
