OPP searching for suspects in $1M copper wire theft

Lambton OPP are asking for the public's help in finding suspects after $1 million worth of copper wire was stolen in St. Clair Township.

Officers were called to a reported theft from a business on Oil Springs Line between St. Clair Parkway and Greenfield Road in St. Clair Township, shortly before 7 a.m. on August 17.

The theft is believed to have happened between 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, and the morning of August 17.

According to police, the suspects gained access to the property by cutting a locked perimeter gate, then entered and stole spools of copper wire.

The estimated value of the copper wire is $1 million.

The suspect vehicle, which had previously been reported stolen out of Sarnia on August 2, 2026, is described as a 2007 white International Model 40S heavy truck.

Police are asking scrap metal dealers and recycling facilities to contact Lambton OPP if they receive a large quantity of copper wire.
