Health Minister Urges Arbitration

Ontario's Minister of Health and Long-Term Care is urging the Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) and the Ontario Nurses' Association to resume talks and agree to arbitration.

Dr. Eric Hoskins has asked that all public sector partners, including employers and bargaining agents, work together to manage current and future compensation costs including wages, benefits and pensions.

Hoskins says he hopes a new agreement can be reached quickly.

ONA says it offered to go to arbitration months ago and the offer still stands.

Some 3,000 CCAC workers across the province, including 260 in the Erie-St. Clair/Sarnia region, have been on strike since January 30.

Wages are the main issue. There hasn't been a raise in three years.
