2015 Strong Kids Campaign Launched

Sarnia-Lambton's YMCA hopes to raise $202,000 in its 2015 Strong Kids Campaign.

A kickoff ceremony was held Thursday morning at the Jerry McCaw Family Centre on Finch Dr.

YMCA President and CEO Jim Janzen says last year over 1,800 people received membership assistance, 200 kids received funding so they could attend summer camp and over half of the Y's licensed child care spaces were made available to families needing financial support.

About $60,000 has already been raised thanks to a significant donation from Kel-Gor and YMCA staff and volunteers.

Also in 2014, 19 students received scholarships at the YMCA Celebration of Youth Awards and over 600 local children received funding to participate in community sports and recreation programs.

Donations can be made online at www.ystrongkids.ca
