Sarnia

Masterworks Art Exhibit Downtown (Gallery)

Sarnia is home to world famous artwork for the next four months as the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery hosts Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

The exhibition's visit to Sarnia, featuring masterpieces from Canadian, American and European artists spanning 400 years, is the only stop in central Canada and the northeastern United States.

Dignitaries were on hand Wednesday afternoon to tour the gallery and officially mark the exhibit's opening Friday.

Lambton County Warden Bev MacDougall is impressed.

Curator of the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery, Lisa Daniels, says it's the most historically significant exhibition to ever come to the area.

She says staff and volunteers have been hard at work for well over a year developing special events and programs unique to the exhibition.

It opens to the public at 4pm Friday October 2 and will be on display until February 7, 2016.
