No New Year's Eve Drunk Driving Charges

Sarnia police were busy over the New Year's weekend but no impaired driving charges were laid New Year's Eve.

Constable John Sottosanti says it's great news there were no drunk drivers found but a number of liquor licence act violations and domestic and family disturbances occurred.

"It's fairly similar to an average New Year's Eve. Having worked them in the past, usually around midnight seems to be the witching hour, everybody is leaving their parties and unfortunately, have had one too many drinks to drink and that leads to other problems."

There were 51 calls for service the final night of 2015 and police made six arrests.

From New Year's Day Friday until 7am Monday Sarnia police responded to 111 calls including three assaults, four break and enters and ten thefts.

Five people were arrested over the three day weekend.

Officers also issued 11 provincial offences notices.
