Wyoming Minor Baseball has partnered with the Sarnia Community Foundation to help with the redevelopment of Canton Park.
The association received $50,000 from Plympton-Wyoming Council, and are looking to match that through its own fundraising efforts.
Plympton-Wyoming Mayor Lonny Napper says they were happy to help.
"We've got some pretty nice parks here in Wyoming and these upgrades are just going to make them that much nicer," says Napper. "Minor ball is a first class organization, I was happy to have them on the Mayor's honour list last year. They're just a great group to work with."
Wyoming Minor Ball President Chad Turnbull says they're looking to put in a new backstop, new dugouts and upgrade facilities to provide more room for storage.
Turnbull says their partnership with Sarnia Community Foundation allows people to donate through the Canada Helps website.
"It's a great partnership, it allows people to donate individually or through corporations, we can now offer tax receipts as well which isn't something we could do in the past."
Turnbull says the field conditions at Canton Ball Park aren't an issue, but they're hoping to revitalize some of the other amenities.
The association has also upgraded their website at www.wyomingminorball.ca
With over 400 kids registered, Wyoming Minor Baseball has ten boys and 11 girls teams, for anyone 6-17 years of age.
