Incumbent Seeks Re-election In Point Edward

Saying she'd like to lead a period of new growth in Point Edward, incumbent Bev Hand has filed her candidacy papers for October's municipal election.

"There's the potential for some new development in the Village so we're working through that to see what really comes of that," says Hand. "And, as always, we continue to hope for a resolution on the Holmes Foundry property. The current owners are undergoing a Tier One Environmental Assessment right now and that's all I know about that property."

Hand took office in the summer of 2016 following Larry McKenzie's sudden retirement.

She is the only person to declare her intentions thus far for the mayor's position.

Greg Grimes has indicated he will seek one of four council positions.
