Seasonal residence fires in Port Franks

The Lambton Shores Fire Department has been busy responding to fires at seasonal residences in Port Franks.

Chief Lawrence Swift said the damage is estimated at $20,000 after the inside of an unoccupied trailer was destroyed at the Pinehurst Trailer Park early holiday Monday.

Swift said they responded to the call just after 2 a.m. The cause is undetermined.

Another fire on Patrick Street that took place last Thursday was a total loss.

Swift said a cottage went up in flames over the noon hour that day.

"When the fire department arrived, the cottage was completely engulfed, and flames were travelling up the tree line," he said. "The department concentrated on the two neighbouring properties, and were successful at stopping any fire spread beyond the initial home."

Damage is estimated at $250,000.

The cause is undetermined but believed to be electrical in nature.
