Deker Bauer Foundation CEO Relieved Of Duties

The co-founder and CEO of the Deker Bauer Foundation has been relieved of her duties.

The board of directors announced Thursday that Teresa Ingles is no longer with the foundation that was formed in 2014 in honour of her late son.

Board President Lindsay Peterson says they've had to deal with diverse issues over the years with both the past and current board.

"We don't feel that the level experience and competency that is needed to actually handle in-centre services are within her scope of practice and we would like to concentrate on a COO rather than of a CEO at this time," says Peterson.

Peterson also says The Deker Bauer Suicide Prevention Resource Center is closed, temporarily.

"We did open in October with a very strong volunteer base, certified and qualified social service workers, social workers and child and youth workers," says Peterson. "However, in the last two months we've had a very high turnover in our supervisory roles and the advisory lead roles particularly, we have lost both."

Peterson says over the next three months the board will develop a strategic plan to contract a fundraising specialist, with the intent to secure a grant to hire a Chief Operating Officer to oversee the resource centre's daily operations.

The London Rd. Centre provided emotional support and referral services to those in need in a safe home-like environment.

Those in crisis or seeking immediate support are encouraged to call the Sarnia-Lambton Distress Line at 1-888-347-8737 or Lambton Mental Health Crisis Service at 1-800-307-4319.
