The Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce had two resolutions approved at the Ontario chamber annual general meeting in Muskoka recently.
The chamber is lobbying the Ontario government to implement higher standards for asphalt used in road paving and measure the performance of the material.
President and CEO Shirley de Silva said that's a big issue.
"That basically looked at the issue of how premature and repetitive road maintenance creates traffic congestion and increased truck fleet maintenance and repairs," said de Silva. "By improving the quality of the asphalt, it would be a way of reducing those problems."
The other resolution, co-authored with the Kingston chamber, calls for the introduction of a course on business and commerce principles that would be compulsory for a secondary school diploma.
The matters will be considered at Queen's Park at a later date.
