Prominent businessman remembered

A prominent Sarnia businessman has died.

Marty Raaymakers died early Tuesday, February 11, at the age of 67.

Raaymakers was the president and CEO of MIG Engineering for 34 years, past chair of the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

He was involved in a number of groups, including the Bluewater Health Foundation, Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Alliance, The Bowman Centre, Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park and Bio Industrial Centre.

In 2000, Raaymakers was named to the mayor's honour list recognizing his service to the community.

He is survived by his wife, Pami, six children and 14 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, February 19, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Sunbridge Hotel & Conference Centre (formerly the Holiday Inn) on Venetian Blvd. in Point Edward.
