St. Joseph's Hospice has officially launched a COVID-19 relief fund with a lead gift of $25,000 from Sarnia's Kel-Gor Limited.
The hospice said it's concerned about its ability to continue to care for those who need support over the difficult weeks and months ahead.
"The residence remains fully operational, and our clinical team is still working 24/7 to support our residents and families at the hardest, most difficult time in their lives," a news release said.
St. Joseph’s Hospice Executive Director Larry Lafranier said as a charity, they rely almost entirely on donations and the generosity of the local community.
"We are deeply grateful to Kel-Gor Limited for their outstanding generosity in responding to this unprecedented need," he said. "Receiving a gift of this magnitude so early in the crisis has helped us meet the urgent needs of our front-line workers and assisting with our fundraising needs during this COVID-19 pandemic. We hope this gift will serve as an inspiration for others to consider how they can support St. Joseph’s Hospice and end of life care."
