Over 45 per cent of eligible Sarnia-Lambton residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Lambton Public Health said Wednesday 52,257 shots have been administered to date, including 3,190 second doses.
The local COVID-19 incidence rate continues to drop. The rate of infection per 100,000 population was 53 for the week of April 25 to May 2, down from 57 the week before. The positivity rate has also dropped to 1.9 per cent from 2.1 per cent.
The health unit reported 18 new confirmed cases Wednesday, for a total of 3,287 since March 2020. Cases considered resolved went up by eight to 3,147, increasing the active caseload by 10 to 84. Since March 3 there's been 412 variant of concern cases.
There are six workplace and institutional outbreaks, up one over the last 24 hours. A new outbreak involving an unnamed workplace with three cases was declared May 4.
Bluewater Health had 13 COVID-positive patients in hospital.
