Sarnia Fire and Rescue says damage is estimated at around $100,000 following a house fire in the 2900 block of London Line.
Sarnia fire, police, and Lambton EMS responded at around 10:15 a.m. Monday, after being called by an off-duty firefighter.
Fifteen firefighters from three stations responded and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.
No one was home at the time, but a family dog died in the fire.
The cause was deemed to be accidental, and electrical in nature and extensive smoke damage was reported.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue is reminding residents of the importance of having working smoke alarms, noting they should be tested at least once a month.
