Demolition of the former Murray Street School in Corunna is underway.
The building is being cleared to make way for a new 25,000 square feet medical centre at the corner of Hill and Murray Streets.
Dr. Michael Rondinelli said two neighbouring houses have already been demolished.
"It's very exciting that the school is being taken down, along with the two houses," said Rondinelli. "The planning process can be quite extensive, so we are moving along very nicely and right after that we should be moving along with constructing the building."
Dr. Rondinelli said the demolition should move along now at a "pretty good pace."

"When they started with the remediation process, which was about two months ago, they had said four months. A lot got taken down just in the last few days, so I can't see it taking another two months, but basically they gave us a four month timeline."
Dr. Rondinelli said a well known contractor will take over once the demo is complete.
"We're actually working with Dixin Construction. You've seen them on other really big jobs in our community, like Lambton College, and Dixin Construction will be ready to go and is just waiting on us to get the school down."
He previously told Sarnia News Today most of the spaces in the building were already spoken for.

"I have added a chiropractor, there will be five family doctors, potentially one or two more to come, two dentists, hearing audiology, there's going to be a denturist, there's going to be physio/massage and we're just finalizing things with the radiology."
Dr. Rondinelli said there have also been requests for certain services.
"There was a lot of feedback on a blood lab and blood services, so we're looking into that. Our anchor tenant is going to be Hogan Pharmacy. They're going to be the main centerfold around the doctors offices."
Dr. Rondinelli is one of four local doctors who partnered for the project.
The group is hoping the project is completed by late summer, or early fall, of next year.
