The Sarnia Sting are feeling the heat after the Flint Firebirds pulled out a 4-3 overtime win Friday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
The Sting did not go without putting in some work as they tried to avenge Wednesday's loss in Flint.
"I think we're making strides in the right direction," said Ty Voit. "I also think we're having a problem with coming on every shift and bringing the same energy. When we can show that we're going we can dominate teams but I think we lay off the pedal a little too much sometimes and it opens up doors for the other teams that come in."
The Sting scored early and late in the first period for a 2-1 lead the intermission. Nolan Burke scored 19 seconds into the game and Voit tallied with 54 seconds left.

Ty Voit had a goal and two assists, Nolan Burke ran his goal streak to five games and golie Ben Gaudreau made 28 saves.
"We're not big fans of them (Flint) and I am sure they are not big fans on us," said Voit. "We got a couple more cracks at them this year and I think it's going to be a close battle every time just like that (Friday)."
The Firebirds took their first lead on a power play with 3:47 in the third period. Tyler Deline’s shot from the left point was tipped in by Braeden Kressler.
Simon Slavicek also scored for the Firebirds and Will Cranley made 33 saves.

The Sting will try again to end their losing skid when the Niagara Ice Dogs visit Sarnia Saturday night. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at Progressive Auto Sales Arena, on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
