A Bluewater Health physician is being honoured for his dedication to teaching.
Dr. James Grochowski will be presented with an Award of Excellence for Faculty in Community/Distributed Sites from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University.
In a media release, the hospital said the award is in recognition of the tremendous amount of time and effort that Dr. Grochowski has devoted towards making the school an inspiring and rewarding place to learn.
“I am honoured to be receiving this award,” said Dr. Grochowski. “This recognition from my peers is greatly appreciated. I feel privileged to be a part of such an extraordinary institute where I have the opportunity to guide and mentor other future doctors.”
Winners of the award are selected by the Schulich Awards Committee from nominations put forward by students, department chairs, and peers.
Bluewater Health Chief of Staff Dr. Mike Haddad congratulated Dr. Grochowski for the achievement.
“Dr. Grochowski has taken on the role of Site Director for medical residents who are doing Emergency Medicine training at Bluewater Health and has been a strong advocate for their training," said Dr. Haddad, who is also the Regional Academic Director Lambton Kent for the Schulich School. "The fact that a number of the residents who train here chose to practice here is a testament to Dr. Grochowski’s dedication to teaching.”
The award will be presented during a special awards ceremony and dinner June 14 in London.
Dr. Grochowski, an emergency physician at Bluewater Health since 2002, was also recently the recipient of the Outstanding Physician of the Year Award at the hospital.
