Small business owners and local entrepreneurs are being encouraged to apply for grant funding through the Starter Company Plus program.
The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) is accepting applications until 4 p.m. on September 16.
Six grants of up to $5,000 will be available through the program, administered by the SLEP Business Enterprise Centre.
Manager of the Small Enterprise Centre Chantelle Core said they're looking for applicants who show a passion to grow and will appreciate the mentoring program.
"The program is designed so that we do intake early so that we can spend time coaching the entrepreneurs and people who are looking at starting businesses or growing existing businesses, and provide them with a high level of support so they are not left alone to go through the process," said Core.
Intake for the Starter Company Plus program began in June.
Applicants must be over the age of 18 and have at least 25 per cent of the requested grant funding amount in equity. More information about application requirements can be found by clicking, here.
Core said over the past few years, the organization has seen roughly 50 businesses complete intake and roughly half submit a full application.
"We've been running the program for less than five years and we plan to run it for the next three years," Core said. "It is a provincial government program that is designed to support new and existing businesses across the province of Ontario."
