Sting ink head coach, GM to three-year extensions

The head coach and the general manager of the Sarnia Sting are sticking around with the hockey club for the foreseeable future.

On Wednesday, the Sting announced that Alan Letang and Dylan Seca have both agreed to three-year contract extensions.

In a media release, Sting owner David Legwand said the pair has helped lay the foundation for future success and set the expectation moving forward.

"Dylan, Al, and the Hockey Operations group navigated the highs and lows of a season well, learning many valuable lessons along the way," said Legwand. "This group has shown the level of hard work and dedication required to win and we look forward to continuing our pursuit together.”

The hockey club also signed contact extensions with Associate Head Coach Brad Staubitz, Assistant Coach Michael Haley, Equipment Manager Dawson Young, and Athletic Therapist Jennifer Love for the upcoming season.

Seca said the team is extremely happy to bring back all of the staff from the 2022-23 season.

"This is a professional, compassionate, and hard-working group of people who know what it will to take to get this team back to the top," said Seca. “This staff has a tremendous amount of respect for each other, and we are motivated to continuously build a first-class program that emphasizes player development and continual growth."

Seca added the Letang has shown he’s one of the best coaches in the CHL and that he is committed to the organization and more importantly the community.

Seca was named the Sting's GM in 2020 after serving five seasons as the club's director of player personnel.

Letang was named Sarnia's head coach in June of 2021 after spending five seasons with the Owen Sound Attack, including two as head coach.

The Sting are coming off the most successful season in franchise history. They advanced to the Western Conference Final for the first time before losing to the London Knights in six games.

Sarnia hosts Windsor September 29 in game one of the 2023-24 regular season.
