Sarnia police arrest 18-year-old accused of assaulting younger teen

Sarnia police have arrested a young woman accused of severely beating a younger teenage girl over the weekend.

According to police, the incident occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday when officers were called to Canatara Park for an assault in progress.

When emergency crews arrived, they located a 14-year-old girl who had been violently assaulted.

Police said several other teens were in the park around the time the altercation happened, and one of them called 911.

The victim was taken to Bluewater Health for treatment. Police have not provided a status regarding the victim's injuries.

An 18-year-old Sarnia woman has since been charged with two counts of assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.
