A surplus pumper truck is being donated to Lambton College.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services Chief Bryan Van Gaver said the apparatus from 1999 is beyond the end of its life.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that a fire apparatus remains in front line service for 15 years, then 5 years in reserve for a 20-year life-cycle.
The college expressed an interest in the vehicle and has offered future "in-kind" use of the fire school training facilities up to its mutually agreed $5,000 value.

Exterior upgrades are being planned at the site, particularly on the north side of the building where a covered space is located.
Decorative perimeter fencing and lighting upgrades are recommended to improve security, as well as concrete repairs and exterior painting.
The Community Sharps Disposal Program bin will be installed and maintained by Lambton Public Health.

The village is looking to rezone three sites into a consolidated residential marina zone to develop approximately 156 townhomes. The area spans about 16 acres.

City staff are reporting that it has been hard to get a hold of cell phone providers to resolve poor coverage issues.
Staff were directed in July, to ask Telus, Bell and Rogers to resolve the problem in a timely manner.
They concluded that poor cellular coverage in the city presents a range of challenges that affect communication, economic growth, public safety, technology adoption, and overall quality of life.
Staff said it has been a struggle to get their attention and addressing the challenges requires efforts and investment from cellular service providers.
Council previously directed staff to forward complaints to the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission) if no response was received within three months.
