Harmony's Haunted House is back and ready to make attendees "very uncomfortable" while raising money for youth programming.
The haunted house opened for the first time since 2019 on October 13.
Harmony for Youth President Paul Kearney said although there wasn't a big crowd, their opening weekend went over well and some attendees favourably compared the haunted house to Reapers Realm.
Kearney said this will be their 21st year running the haunted house. Unlike other Halloween attractions, Kearney said they do not focus on gore.
"Our objective is to make you feel very uncomfortable. So the real goal is to take that teenage jock who's just too cool to be scared and see if we can't make him scream like a little girl," he said.
However, children or youth who are overwhelmed during the haunted house can say the safe word "harmony" and the scare-actors will back away to let guests see the rest of the area on their own.
Admission is $15 per person. Money raised will support Harmony for Youth, a safe space for young people to participate in choir or receive music lessons.
"All of our lessons now are free of monetary charge but what the youth themselves will sign is what we call our pay it forward contract," Kearney said. "So how a youth pays for their lessons is, every hour of lessons we give them, we expect them to do one hour of community service somewhere."
The spooky event is held every weekend throughout the month of October, located at 145 Mitton St. South in Sarnia. The haunted house is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
