Former IceDog brings home Sting win against Niagara

Jacob LeBlanc scored on his former team three minutes into overtime for a 3-2 Sarnia Sting victory Friday night.

The Sting took the lead against the Niagara IceDogs late in the first period with a goal from Tyson Doucette. It was one of only four shots on net by the Sting in the first.

Sarnia only took eight shots on net in the second, compared to Niagara's 12.

The IceDogs managed to tie the game in the second period, with a short-handed goal by Michael Podolioukh.

Zach Filak got the lead back for the Sting almost 12 minutes into the third, only for Niagara to tie it back up with less than two minutes left in the game.

The game-winning goal went to LeBlanc with an assist from Doucette, making him the only multi-point winner of the night.

LeBlanc earned the game's first star, Niagara goalie Marcus Vandenberg earned the second, Sarnia goalie Karsen Chartier earned the third.

The Sting take on the Erie Otters at 7 p.m. on Saturday. You can hear every game live on 103.9FM/1070AM CHOK.
